A Serdar(male) or Serdari(female) is the thalassian equivalent of the rank of Duke, and is a title of higher nobility within the Kingdom of Quel'Thalas. Serdars originally were high ranking military personnel or leaders of large cities during Quel'Thalas foundation. Since then, they were propelled into the social fabric of the thalassian state as high nobility. While few in number, they generally hold dominion over large swaths of land that also hold many smaller holdings of lesser nobles. While there are no current Serdar's officially related to the throne, the rank would often be given to sons and daughters of the High King of Quel'Thalas. They are somewhat equal to the rank of Lin'thorel(Prince) in purpose, but less than equal to a prince in prestige. Serdars are expected to maintain order within a large thalassian province and contribute tax and military strength to the Thalassian Army. In times of war, the High King would call upon their Serdar's to be military commanders. Serdars are high enough rank you guarantee a place within the Thalassian Senate, primarily within its House of Nobles.

Serdar's incomes are large enough to hold many fortresses, manor houses, estates, and large castles. They often have several towns, many villages, numerous hamlets that contribute to their income.
