A Lin'thorel, is a ruler or high noble within the thalassian peerage. They are equal to the rank of Serdar in purpose but generally are greater in terms of social prestige. Lin'thorel is a gender neutral title but most closely resembles the rank of Prince. At times, leaders of Quel'Thalas would name themselves as Lin'thorel's versus that of the High King. Most notably would be when Kael'thas Sunstrider did not take up his father's mantle after the death of High King Anasterian Sunstrider. The rank of Lin'thorel is rarely used within the nation of Quel'Thalas itself, but in elven colonies, the title used more extensively to establish the legitimacy of their rulers. Like Serdars, Lin'thorels are used in wartime as commanders, and are expected to upkeep and maintain many fighting forces for the Thalassian Army. Lin'thorels may have a position within the Thalassian Senate, however there are no current members of this rank within the House of Nobles.
Note: The elves of Quel'Asir use the title of Lin'thorel, or Prince, to refer to their leaders. The title is used as a mean of insult to Quel'Thalas itself, as it is symbolic of their independence from the throne.
